Cultural Heritage ‘Wolyeong Night Trip’ in Andong

The highlight of Andong’s summer night, “Wolyeong Night Trip” is back.

Andong City will hold the “Wolyeong Night Trip” for 10 days from the 26th to August 4th in the area of the Andong Dam Wolyeonggyo Bridge.

Wolyeong Night Trip is a program that re-examines the historical value of Andong’s cultural heritage and allows citizens to enjoy, and presents the essence of summer night cultural events with detailed programs of the theme of 8 nights (八夜).

In particular, as a new program to be introduced this year, the LED Hahoe Sunyu julnori (fire play)Spot Zone, which reinterprets real Hahoe Sunyu julnori (fire play) with a modern sense, will be held at Gwanpungjeong Pond,
And Andong’s representative cultural heritage performances such as Hahoe Byeolsingut talnori and Andong Nodari Stepping will also be on stage. It will add interest with tea games and Walking on a Human Bridge and some rides where indirect experiences are possible in the active zone.

In addition, a candlelight concert will be held in the area of Wolyeongdae, where Seokbinggo and Seonseonghyeon Guesthouse are located, and various performances such as Korean traditional music, folk songs, notdari stepping demonstration, and Hahoe Byeolsinguttalnori will be held on the Gaemoknaru stage.

Wolyeong Night Trip is a public offering project of the National Heritage Administration hosted by the National Heritage Administration, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Andong City, and organized by the Korea Foundation for Spiritual Culture

In particular, it has established itself as a successful local cultural event by being selected as one of the 100 local cultural attractions by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2023, and is expected to lead Andong tourism along with the summer festival “Sufesta” held along the Nakdong River during the same period.
