2026 Hangang River Festival: Summer on the Water

Sixteen days of music, movies, water play, and late nights along Seoul’s Hangang — still running through August 16.

Seoul’s seasonal Hangang River Festival turns the city’s riverside parks into a long summer stage. For 2026 the summer edition runs from August 1 to 16 across nine Hangang parks, mixing free outdoor culture with water activities and night programs. The theme is simple: the coolest escape is closer than you think.

What’s On

Programs are spread along the river rather than concentrated in one plaza. Opening weekend brought a surface drone show with live music at Yanghwa Hangang Park and poolside concerts at Nanji. Later weekends added traditional tightrope performances at Jamsil, an overnight drama-and-snack marathon at Mangwon, silent DJ parties under Mapo Bridge, and free outdoor cinema under several bridges.

As of mid-August, the final stretch still includes:

  • Hangang Boat Race (Aug 15) — homemade boats racing to collect “summer fruit” markers on the water at Jamsil
  • Hangang Under the Bridge Theater — free outdoor films on selected Saturday evenings at Yeouido, Ttukseom, and Gwangnaru
  • Hangang Silent Disco Party (Aug 15) — wireless-headphone dance party under Mapo Bridge, Yeouido
  • Hangang Silent Yoga (Aug 16) — closing outdoor session at Yeouido

Night swimming pools, night camping (밤핑) at Yeouido and Ttukseom, and discounted water leisure (kayak, paddleboard, yacht, cruise) continue alongside the festival calendar.

Why It Works for Visitors

Most headline events are free and open on-site. You can treat the festival as a series of short stops rather than one all-day ticket: catch a film under a bridge, walk the park at sunset, then join a silent party or simply sit by the water. Public transport links are strong at Yeouido, Ttukseom, Jamsil, and Mangwon, so moving between parks is straightforward.

  • Check the official page for the exact remaining program times — schedules differ by park and day.
  • Final weekend (Aug 15–16) is the last chance for boat race, silent disco, bridge cinema, and silent yoga.
  • Bring water and sun protection for daytime; evenings by the river can feel cooler.
  • Night camping and some activities need advance booking.
  • Combine with a normal Hangang park visit: the festival sits on top of the everyday riverside, it does not replace it.
