Right next to the subway, wide lawns, river views, and one of the easiest places to start a Hangang day.

Yeouido Hangang Park sits on the southern bank of the Han River in the middle of Seoul’s financial and political district. It is one of the most convenient Hangang parks to reach: Line 5 Yeouinaru Station opens almost directly onto the park. Wide grass fields, bicycle paths, a floating stage, and long river views make it a natural base for walking, picnics, evening hangs, and summer water activities.

Why Visit

The park works for both short visits and full afternoons. Office workers come for a quick evening walk; families and travelers use it for longer stays. Key spots include the Water Light Square (물빛광장) with its shallow cascade and fountain area, the Floating Stage (물빛무대) on the water, open lawns for mats and tents (in designated zones), and long bike paths that connect to other Hangang sections.

In summer the outdoor swimming pool operates with extended evening hours. The same stretch of river changes character with the seasons — cherry blossoms in spring, fireworks in autumn, and parts of the Hangang River Festival in summer.

Nearby, Bamseom Island (a protected Ramsar wetland) can be viewed from the ecological experience center on Mapo Bridge, and cruises depart from the Yeouido dock for a different angle on the river.

Everyday Hangang Life

On weekends the lawns fill with tents, mats, and delivery bags. People spread out under the skyline, eat, rest, and stay until the lights come on. It is one of the most typical “Hangang picnic” scenes in Seoul — easy to reach, free to enter, and open late.

Seasonal Events

Yeouido is a major venue for large riverside events. The Seoul International Fireworks Festival turns the river and bridges into a night stage, and the park regularly hosts outdoor performances and festival programs linked to the Hangang calendar.
