Wide sand, shallow water, and one of the city’s best sunsets — Dadaepo is the calmer side of Busan.

At the far western edge of Busan, where the Nakdong River meets the South Sea, Dadaepo Beach stretches out in a broad, gentle arc. The sand is soft, the water stays shallow for a long way out, and the horizon opens wide toward the evening light. It is less crowded than Haeundae or Gwangalli, and that quiet is part of its appeal.

Why Visit

Dadaepo is a practical beach for families and anyone who prefers space over spectacle. The slope into the water is gradual, so children can play safely near the shore. Behind the beach, a coastal park and pine grove offer shade and walking paths. In season, the large musical floor fountain at the entrance plaza runs in the evenings, and the beach itself becomes a natural stage for sunset.

The same shoreline also hosts surfing and other water activities when conditions are right. On clear days the view reaches toward the islands and hills that frame the bay.

Sunset and Evening

Dadaepo faces west, so the light at the end of the day is the main reason many people come. When the sky turns orange and pink, the wet sand and open water catch the color, and the beach fills with people taking photos or simply sitting for a while.

In summer the atmosphere often continues into the night, with lights, casual seating on the sand, and the sound of the festival or fountain nearby.

In August the beach becomes the main venue for the Busan Sea Festival. Fireworks, stages, and temporary beach facilities turn the usual quiet shore into a short-lived summer event zone. After the festival ends, the same stretch of sand returns to its calmer everyday character — which is why a visit outside peak event days can feel completely different.
