Constitution Day is a national holiday in the Republic of Korea that commemorates the day the Constitution of the Republic of Korea was enacted on July 17, 1948.

Originally, it was a public holiday recognized by the Korean government, but since 2008, it has been excluded from public holidays and is now a national holiday, not a public holiday




Constitution Day is the day when the Constitution of the Republic of Korea was enacted, and the day when the Basic Law of the State (Constitution) was established is celebrated as a national holiday.

On this day, various commemorative events are held to exclude foreign rule and dictatorship and strengthen the will to protect the constitutional system based on liberal democracy, and representatives from all walks of life, including the three-part factor, and surviving members of the Constitution gather to hold a ceremony, and raise the Taegeukgi in public institutions and in each family

The Constitution Day celebration is organized by the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, and representatives from all walks of life, including surviving members of the Constitutional Assembly and members of the third division, gather to hold a ceremony. Each family raises the national flag to raise the will of the day.


The Constitution was established to highlight the democratic republic’s ideology of constitutional governance for the first time in our history since the establishment of the Korean government. Since the foundation day of the Joseon Dynasty was July 17, the Constitution was promulgated on July 17, 1948, with the continuity of past history in mind
