Park Shin-yang’s Comeback, K-Occult movie “Devils stay”
Actor Park Shin-yang will return to the movie “Devils stay” (director Hyun Moon-seop). His screen appearance is the first in 11 years since the movie “Man on the edge” (2013).
Attention is focusing on how he will perform in front of audiences with his first occult performance since his debut.
It contains the struggles of the father Seung-do (Park Shin-yang), who tries to save his dead daughter, Haeshin (Lee Min-ki), a exorcist priest who tries to get rid of the devil, and So-mi (Ire), Seung-do’s daughter, who is eroded by a mysterious existence.
New director Hyun Moon-seop has set up a megaphone to maximize the atmosphere of the movie with the limited space of the funeral home as the main background, as well as the setting that Korea’s Samiljang culture and “It” in Somi’s heart will be revived in three days to provide a different horror.
In particular, Park Shin-yang is expected to return to the screen in 11 years and challenge the occult genre for the first time since her debut.
Park has been trusted by the public by showing solid acting skills regardless of genre, including movies, “The big swindle” “Man on the edge,” dramas, “Lovers in Paris,” “war of money” and “Sign.” She is expected to show highly immersive acting in “Devils stay.”
In the movie, Park Shin-yang plays role of the father Seung-do, who tries to save his dead daughter. Seung-do is a cardiothoracic surgeon who hears his daughter’s voice at the funeral of his daughter Somi, who died after heart transplantation, and faces a strange incident.
Park Shin-yang recently said on the distributor Showbox, “I was looking forward to how the occult genre would harmonize with the affectionate feelings of father and daughter.
The question of how the father would feel not acknowledging the death of his daughter was the starting point of the character approach.”

Director Hyun Moon-seop explained about Seung-do, “People say it’s crazy, but I wanted to draw a father who firmly believes that his child is alive,” making him look forward to Park Shin-yang’s performance to show his desperate yet crazy paternal love performance.
In addition to Park Shin-yang, Lee Min-ki, who turned into a exorcist, and Lee Se-re, who will show overwhelming performances, will also be on the show. It will be released on the 14th.
