TVING Original occult documentary ‘Shaman: Gwishin-jeon’
On July 11, TVING simultaneously released episodes 1 to 4 of the original documentary “Shaman: Gwishin-jeon” which tells the stories of people who face and experience the existence of invisible ghosts
The original documentary ‘Shaman: Gwishin-jeon’ features performers with various stories, shamanists, and experts from various fields, drawing expectations for the birth of a Korean-style occult documentary that captures how shamanism works in our lives.
The first episode of “Shaman : Gwishin-jeon” features a cast member who sees ghosts every day. He suffers from ghost phenomena, such as having a bad dream of someone scanning his body every night and seeing strange patterns on the wallpaper, but nothing changed even when he visited the hospital. Eventually, the cast member who visited the shaman is told that what she experienced a year ago was the cause of all the situations.
The next episode will be followed by an episode of a cast member who wanted to live a normal life but was destined to become a shaman. The cast member who started having strange experiences from the age of 10 goes abroad to study, but has similar experiences there and eventually accepts “fate.” The episode deals with “Sinnerim” which process of a human being become a shaman in depth.
There are also cases of lovers suffering by possession. The case recipient sees a ghost but the boyfriend does not see it. The case recipient looks for a shaman because of a critical incident. The shaman who visited their house said, “If I hadn’t met the shaman, I can feel the strong spirit that a murder case occurred within 100 days,” raising questions about the existence of bullying them.
TVING original documentary “Shaman: Gwishin-jeon” follows the ritual process of ordinary performers and shamans suffering from ghost phenomena, and is a documentary that closely covers shamanism that still remains in Korean culture. Actors Yoo Ji-tae and Ok Ja-yeon participated as presenters, and this content was produced as a high-quality factual documentary, adding a cinematic screen and background music composed by Korean shamanism during the two-year production period.
The first to fourth episodes of the original documentary “Shaman : Gwishin-jeon” featuring shamanism deeply entrenched in Korean society, will be shown on TVING at 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 11. Afterwards, episodes 5 and 6 will be shown on the 18th, and episodes 7 and 8 will be shown on July 25th.
