Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival opens in July 27th
Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 10th that it will hold the “Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival” in the area of Tamjin River and Pyeonbaek Forest Woodland from the 27th to the 4th of next month.
Under the slogan “ALL Water Good – Exciting Jangheung Water Festival,” the event put forward a “participatory festival” in which all participants enjoy a cool experience in the water themselves
In fact, Jangheung-gun will introduce a new ‘Global Water World’ that combines multimedia shows with the existing Water Rock Pool Party. It creates an immersive space by blocking both sides of the pool party, and shows media video shows symbolizing the identity of the water festival. During the festival, the Rock Festival with Korea’s top rock stars is also planned on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
In particular, it will take its first step as a global festival in partnership with the Songkran Festival in Thailand. The Songkran Festival, which is held under the theme of water, is one of the top 10 festivals in the world. To this end, the Thai government’s tourism agency, Jeonnam-do, and Jangheung-gun signed an agreement on festival exchange on the 17th of last month.
The highlights of the water festival are the “Salsu Battle Street Parade” and the “largest water fight on the ground.” The Salsu Battle Street Parade is a program in which tourists and local residents combine to engage in water fights and march through the streets. At the parade that begins on the afternoon of the first day of the festival (27th), cool streams and water bombs are poured out and tourists and local residents fight together.
During the “largest water fight on land” event, exciting water fights are held at 2 p.m. every day with exciting music. In addition, the Golden Fish Catching Program, which is held at 3 p.m. every day, allows you to trim and pack the fish you catch.
There is a rich and clean water resource in the background of Jangheung-gun’s water festival as a representative festival in the region. Jangheung Dam, which provides drinking water to nine cities and counties, the first-class Tamjin River across the city of Jangheung-eup, and Deukryang Bay, a clean sea area, are representative water resources in the region.
