Production presentation for the new Netflix series ‘The Whirlwind’
in the morning of the 25th, a production presentation was held at JW Marriott Dongdaemun in Seoul for Netflix’s original series “the Whirlwind” (written by Park Kyung-soo and directed by Kim Yong-wan).
The production presentation was attended by Seol Kyung-gu as Prime Minister Park Dong-ho, who is willing to put blood on his hands to wipe out corrupt forces, Kim Hee-ae as Deputy Prime Minister of Economy Jeong Su-jin, and Kim Yong-wan and Park Kyung-soo
“The Whirlwind” depicts a confrontation between the prime minister who decides to murder the president to turn the world upside down and the deputy prime minister for economic affairs who tries to stop him from taking power. Starting with the intense incident of the president’s assassination,
“The Whirlwind” with intense stories like the title drew attention as a political drama that will densely capture the confrontation of characters who have no concessions for their beliefs and desires, to the unpredictable development of the end.
Park Kyung-soo said on the day, “I found the reality that we are living in so frustrating. Although the reality is that we have a worn-out past, I wanted to think that the world is a place where we can fix our frustrating reality little by little. I wanted to make a superman riding a white horse even in a drama that has no possibility of reality. I wanted to see such a superman sweeping away and creating a new world,” he said.
“It is not about power, but about a human being falling down. I have always been interested in a human being falling down, and I love everything about the fall. The fall started with an impossible dream, didn’t it? That’s what I wrote about Park Dong-ho,” he added.
Park Dong-ho, mentioned by author Park, is played by actor Seol Kyung-gu as the prime minister who is willing to put blood on his hands to wipe out corrupt forces. Kim Hee-ae was cast as Deputy Prime Minister for Economy Jung Soo-jin, an ambitious person who wants to monopolize the next power by preventing run amok of Park Dong-ho’s.
