Myeongdong is a place reminiscent of a huge shopping city.

Generally, Myeongdong Street refers to a distance of about 1 kilometer from Myeongdong Station on Subway Line 4 to Euljiro and Lotte Department Store. Various brand stores, department stores, and bonded stores are concentrated here.


You can purchase a variety of products such as clothes, shoes, and accessories that match the expression “the mecca of fashion.” It is characterized by many high-quality brands gathered rather than Namdaemun or Dongdaemun Gate.
First of all, there are Lotte Department Store and Shinsegae Department Store nearby, and shopping malls such as Noon Square, Myeongdong Millore, and M Plaza on Myeongdong Street. Various brand shops are concentrated in the main street and side streets.


Myeongdong has many things to eat and enjoy along with shopping. There are many things to eat as well as family restaurants and fast food restaurants, as well as Korean, Western and Japanese food. Among them, Myeongdong tonkatsu and kalguksu (Myeongdonggyoja) are famous, so you should try them.   • Myeongdong Cathedral: Myeongdong Cathedral, the main building of the Seoul Archdiocese of Korea, is Korea’s first main building and a symbol of the Korean Catholic Church. It is a purely Gothic building that began construction in the 29th year of King Gojong (1892) and was completed in the 2nd year of King Gwangmu (1898). Myeongdong Cathedral is a place that has had a great influence not only on the history of Christianity but also on the political, social and cultural aspects of Korea.
  • Myeong-dong Art Theater: Opened in June 2009 after restoring the old National Theater in Myeong-dong, Myeong-dong Art Theater is a theater arts performance hall where you can meet high-quality theater works. It is a place where the theater exterior, which was built in the baroque style in 1934, and modern internal performance facilities are well harmonized.
  • Myeongdong Jaemi-ro: The uphill road, which was the connection between Myeong-dong and Namsan, but was characteristically flat and steep compared to the splendor of Myeong-dong, was reborn as the cartoon street “Jaem-ro” in December 2013. Here, you can meet various cartoon characters and contents of about 70 leading Korean writers, from elders to rookie writers.
